"सा विद्या या विमुक्तये" - Education towards liberation
Lav Vidya Peeth, a prestigious and fast-growing institution in the state, was established in 2000 AD. Within a short span, it has become one of the most cherished centers of learning in the district and its neighborhood.
Our mission is to prepare effective leaders well-equipped with relevant knowledge, skills, and positive attitude. We are an English medium co-educational school with hostel facility, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi up to Senior Secondary level in Science and Commerce streams.
According to the epic Ramayana, Shravasti was a city created for Lav (one of the sons of King Rama). Rama divided his kingdom of Kosala into two parts and made Lav the king of Shravasti.
The Mahabharata traces Shravasti's history to the legendary king Shravasta. Buddhist tradition calls the city Savatthi after the sage Savattha who lived there, or from "Sabbam atthi" meaning "we have all things," denoting the region's prosperity.
Gautama Buddha spent much of his monastic life in Shravasti (then called Savatthi). His chief patrons in Savatthi were Anathapindika, Visakha, Suppavasa and King Pasenadi.
The city gained prominence during Emperor Ashoka's reign, who constructed several Buddhist temples and stupas here. Chinese travelers Fa Hien and Hiuen Tsang visited in the 5th and 7th centuries respectively, documenting Shravasti as a flourishing Buddhist center.
Shravasti is believed to be the birthplace of Tirthankar Sambhavnath in Jainism. From 900-1000 AD, Jain kings like Mayurdhwaj, Hansdhwaj, Makardhwaj, Sudhavadhwaj and Suhridhwaj ruled here, establishing numerous Jain temples.
King Suhridhwaj (1000 AD) famously defended temples from Muslim attacks and defeated Mohammed Ghaznavi. However, Alauddin Khilji later destroyed many temples, marking the beginning of Muslim rule.
The city of Bhinga, where Lav Vidya Peeth is located, is inhabited by people of diverse religions and cultures. Known for its friendly residents, Bhinga has:
Shravasti remains an important pilgrimage site with its rich Buddhist and Jain heritage.
